Uniofilm has been making films and TV series in Hungary for more some twenty years. From the macabre humour of Heavenly shift through the musical fun of Swing to the cold-war thriller of The exam, we have produced films of many genre.
We’re always on the lookout for new ideas: we always have a number of projects underway and are looking for co-production opportunities here and internationally.

Production Services
Uniofilm has been making films for twenty years now. We have made many of our own films from concept through to distribution, but we also offer production services so that producers can take advantage of the very competitively priced professional services available in Hungary.
Since the 2004 Film Act the film industry in Hungary has grown substantially. Hungary is now renowned internationally for its film production work. For a production budget with up to 20% of expenditure outside Hungary there is a state subsidy of 30%.
We provide services for pre-production, production and post-production work… and we can support you navigate the sometimes-complex processes to get the maximum out of the state subsidy available here.
Turn your project into a deliverable, financeable plan for shooting here in Hungary:
- research and find locations
- find crews and equipment for shooting
- find local cast and extras
- find transport and accommodation
- identify resources for post-production work
- schedule the work
Let us support you build a production plan and budget that makes the most of the resources available here and maximises the state subsidy available.
For the shoot itself:
- contract the locations, the cast and extras, the crews and equipment, the transport and accommodation
- arrange visas for non-EU actors and workers
- arrange local tax registration for non-Hungarian cast and crew (50% of the costs of non-Hungarians who pay tax locally counts as Hungarian expenditure for subsidy purposes)
- arrange insurance and health & safety requirements
- arrange shooting permits
- oversee the production to support the producer and prepare payments as due and
- local accounting & administration, submit accounting returns (VAT etc) and returns to the National Film Institute (NFI) for subsidy payment
Manage the post-production work too:
- contract with cutting, visual effects (SFX), music and sound design
